In November 2006 Storax commissioned its first installation of the new product – Storax Ranger.

The installation of 15000 pallet positions is located at HESBAYE FROST which is situated in the area of Liege in Belgium. HESBAYE FROST is a part of ARDO GROUP – the European leader in processing own-label and branded frozen vegetables and fruit for the retail, industrial and catering market.

The installed solution – STORAX RANGER is a high density storage system in which the pallets with dimensions of 1200x800 or 1200x1000 are moved inside tunnels by a shuttle operated by remote control and equipped with photocells that position the shuttle under the pallet.

It is made up from lanes penetrating into racks, similar to drive-in. These lanes have rails which serve to:

- support pallet loads

- act as running rails for the satellite

The shuttle runs on the rails and is powered by 24V battery blocks which can be removed without immobilizing the shuttle.

The loading of the pallet in each tunnel can be done by a conventional reach-truck. Once loaded the shuttle works independently marshalling pallets as required.

The shuttle system allows for more pallets to be stored in a given area when compared to conventional static rack and gives much higher utilisation and operational efficiency than drive-in. It also minimizes damage to the rack because the forklift does not have to travel into the racking. Accessibility is increased because all the levels can be accessed at any time.

Storage according to FIFO or LIFO system. This solution is suitable for all high density stores and ideal for rapid offloading of bulk transporters e.g. track side, docks.
