Frigorifico LAS PIEDRAS decided to build a modern cold store, near to their manufacturing Plant in Montevideo, which is one of the biggest in Uruguay, utilising Conventional Racks.
Once they started the building, it was evident that using the traditional racking systems, the number of pallets they could store, wouldn't be enough to satisfy their requirements.
The space available was fixed and the building columns were in position. The solution would be to increase the number of pallet positions within the existing building dimensions.
Requirements:
STORE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PALLETS IN THE SPACE AVAILABLE.
Problem:
STORE 4,050 TONNES IN AN AREA WITH AN INITIAL CAPACITY FOR ONLY 2,550 TONNES.

The New Cold Store equipped with STORAX MOBILE RACKS at Frigorifico LAS PIEDRAS,
was officially opened by the President of the nation Dr. Julio Maria Sanguinetti.
Current changes:
In 2006 a further extension of the existing warehouse has become necessary. Again Frigorifico LAS PIEDRAS have decided to use the same succesfull solution as previously - STORAX mobile racking, for the storage of pallets of frozen meat, ready for export to Europe.
The system allows for a further storage capacity of 1320 pallets.
